As you can possibly tell, I’m not medically trained. But I do know my way around a search engine, and so it was that after a week of breastfeeding misery with our first-born, my wife and I found ourselves desperately googling these unfamiliar terms in search of answers.
Ankyloglossia is far more commonly known as a tongue-tie, while frenotomy is the minor clinical procedure to remedy it. If you’ve no idea what I’m talking about, shove your finger under your tongue and waggle that membrane around that connects the underside of your tongue to the floor of your mouth. Try not to gag.
