Just checking: you know this story, right? Little Rabbit Foo Foo, by Michael Rosen? I rediscovered the book a year or two back with my middle daughter, but only found this video version the other day.
I’d forgotten how much I love it, mostly because it’s just so… wrong. The needlessly malicious biker rabbit makes a fabulous anti-hero, of course. But the rhythm of the text startles me every time. Just when you think you’re into a singsong, Julia Donaldson-style groove, Rosen sends you diving off into the bushes, looking for the right way to tell the story. Even now I can hear my daughter tell me that she doesn’t like my ‘at-tit-tude’.
And as for the ending? Short, and brutal. Well worth a watch.
